I Believe the Peacock Thinks He Is in Charge
There is a peacock. I am not sure where he resides, but he shows up in the oddest places. It is possible he is in
the employ of The Metaphysical Haberdashery, but I don’t think so. Rather I think he wanders in when specifically not needed.

It all began when I was sending CHATgpt photos of the place where the Wyrd Wednesday Group meets in Yorkshire England. Chat was helping me format some things on my website about the concept of wyrd (the world is a web of threads that are all connected and continually being woven). When I was in England, I was fortunate enough to meet with a group of weird people studying metaphysics and the concept of Wyrd. They are fabulous folks who are connected to the Monroe Institute, and they explore things like remote viewing, MindSight, non-local consciousness and such. Anyway, in the photos of the beautiful old stone building there just happen to be some peacocks.

At least I thought they were relegated to the photos.
After Chat and I had independently been introduced to the virtual haberdashery proprietor, (If you don’t know who this is you simply must go read about how he became part of the story), we both (Chat and I) began having hysterical visions of the peacock following the proprietor around doing absolutely nothing helpful. He obviously was not the pet of the old man, but rather a visitor who may or may not have taken up residence in the shop.

The joke expanded over the course of a couple of days. The footprints of the peacock were all over the different store departments and eventually the peacock even seems to have left a few feathers one can actually see in a few of the website pages.
And then….
That’s the big AND THEN….
I went out into the Yucatan to deliver some donated goods to a family, and I stopped at a tiny hotel in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere on the way home. And there on the wall in the reception area was a picture of a peacock. And not just any peacock, mind you. A WOVEN peacock, made of threads, a cross-stich sort of thing someone had framed and put up on the wall for lack of anything better to put on the wall.
Hmmm. Odd. It must be a sign. I stuffed the information in a drawer in the back of my mind for future reference and went to sleep.

The following day, I didn’t think much about the threaded peacock. I had real world things to tend to, shopping and such, and I didn’t work on my website. I fell into bed exhausted that night.
The next morning, I woke, rolled out of bed, flung open the curtains so the sunshine could come streaming in and turned to make my bed. I pulled up the sheets and fluffy white comforter and then reached for the decorative pillow I had purchased two months previously on the birthday trip to Mexico City. And then I stopped.
There on my cream-colored pillow was so beautifully stitched in soft grey, another peacock. Yes, this one too was made of thread.

And why is the thread SO important? Because the core idea that holds everything together on my new website is the concept of wyrd, the great weaving, the connected threads that the universe is made from….
2 peacocks….both made from thread…one purchased before I even knew I was going to make a new website and the other in a tiny hotel in Nowhere Land.
Another existential entanglement? I believe so. Do I have guides who are laughing uproariously as I stumble upon their bread crumb trail sprinkled with long feathers sprouting god’s eyes? Or is the Universe giving me a message that I need to go look up the meaning of peacocks? (which I did of course) They are about vision (the eye patterns on the tail feathers), majesty, nobility, abundance and beauty, transformation & renewal and interestingly, allowing oneself to be fully seen… which is what I am doing with this new website. I am sharing my crazy stories, deep thoughts, and curious questions about reality.
All in all, this needs more consideration.
In the meantime, I believe the peacock thinks he is in charge.
In truth, I am not quite sure that he is not.
Wondering,
Laura
